I first come to in contact with Madaraka by invitation of my friend Simon Okelo. I attended the first Madaraka festival and the love, commitment, and dedication of those who volunteered made me look into it further. What I came to learn about the work that is being done through this amazing organization made me a lifetime supporter of the cause. A year later, I was one of the volunteers and it felt very good.

As an Ethiopian American, I too know what life like in the slums of African towns. I also know the unseen, undiscovered talents of Africa that life pass the by simply because they don’t have a place to nurture their talent or an organization that care for their future. One Vibe Africa, with the help of Madaraka festival, is truly one of the organizations that do what is needed.
