Mentorship Workshops

Mentorship Workshops

There are many gifted professionals, artists, and individuals in Kisumu, and around the world that have skills, stories, and ideas worth sharing to inspire youth. One Vibe’s Mentorship Workshops bring these individuals, businesses, and organizations to our community.

Since July 2013 our Mentorship Workshops discussed the following topics:

Owuor Arunga: A celebrated trumpeter that is the core of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s team discussed the future of African Music & Culture.

Sauti Sol: One of the most successful music groups to ever emerge from Kenya discussed the strength in unity, and how to move from individual to group identity.

Angela Wambui: The amazing Miss Kenya U.S.A, facilitated a workshop focused on leadership development through pageantry, fashion, and public speaking.

TayaSola: CEO & Founder of TayaSola, Alma Lorraine Bone Constable, offered a workshop teaching students how to assemble their own Solar Lanterns, and demythologize solar energy, in order for communities to have the knowledge to create their own energy solutions.

Blitz the Ambassador: A renowned rapper, filmmaker, and activist from Ghana & New York discussed integrating music with Pan-Africanism, visual art, film, as well as the role of an African artist in the world today.

Yirim Seck: American-Senegalese rapper based in Seattle discussed the experience in America and Senegal around “African” culture, and the role of activism in music.
